  • Monday-Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 PM

  • Longer shift during school breaks

  • Evenings as needed

  • Weekends as needed

Schedule

Position Overview

  • Oversee afterschool programming for children ages 5 & up.

  • Conduct educational, recreational, and interactive activities.

  • Serve snack, engage members in constructive ways, and ensure safety, organization, and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Development

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere.

  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor.

  • Build relationships with members and encourage participation.

  • Promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and personal growth.

  • Support academic success and character development.

Program Leadership

  • Oversee after school programming for children in kindergarten and up.

  • Lead and supervise daily activities in assigned program areas.

  • Plan and lead educational, recreational, and interactive activities.

  • Create a fun, engaging, and positive environment for members.

  • Ensure program spaces are clean, organized, and well-maintained.

Member Supervision & Safety

  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment at all times.

  • Supervise members and follow Club policies and procedures.

  • Manage behavior using constructive, positive strategies.

  • Respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, or emergency situations.

  • Complete behavior reports, injury reports, and incident documentation as needed.

Community Engagement

  • Represent the Club at events and activities.

  • Encourage family and community involvement.

  • Support special programs, field trips, and Club initiatives.

  • Build positive relationships with parents and community partners.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with program planning and preparation.

  • Complete required paperwork and maintain accurate records.

  • Help organize materials, supplies, and program spaces.

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Collaborate effectively with fellow staff and volunteers.

  • Communicate professionally with members, families, and coworkers.

  • Provide support across multiple program areas as needed.

  • Contribute to a positive and welcoming Club culture.

Qualifications

Required

  • Knowledge of and ability to teach rules of play for common games and activities.

  • Ability to work with diverse youth populations.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Experience working with and instructing youth in recreational and educational activities.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred

  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization.

  • Experience in an afterschool setting.

  • Childcare: 1 year

  • First Aid Certification

  • CPR Certification

  • Driver's License

AmeriCorps Option

AmeriCorps is a paid volunteer opportunity in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club. Member benefits include a living allowance that ranges depending on your service hours and earning money for college by receiving an educational award after completing your term of service. Must be at least 17 years old. Availability is limited, and AmeriCorps positions are not always open.
